Interesting August 15, 2010 fartknocker I think when they made this game they had a lot of good intentions, however the controls for the game were hard to get used to.
An enjoyable run through Italy August 8, 2010 Zook (Cape Cod, USA) Assassin's Creed 2 is a unique and enjoyable video game that brings fluid and functional gameplay to an interesting time period in human history. If you are at all interested in it, you will not not be disappointed.
Pros +
+ Sharp and colorful visuals. The only noticeable slowdown I experienced was diving into water.
+ The character animation on Etzio is what steals the show. His climbing ability and fluid movements puts Nathan Drake from Uncharted 2 to shame. Everything looks natural and just plain awesome
+ Combat feels a little turn based as enemies wait their turn to be slaughtered but it is still very fun. All the various have their counter moves and actions, resulting in some very gory and cringe worthy kills
+ The soundtrack is phenomenal. It takes a back seat during most of the free roaming but comes in beautifully where appropriate
Cons -
- The only real negative I can think of is the actual combat. It can feel a little clunky and can be frustrating when there are about 10 enemies and Ezio's actions are designed for only a few.
In conclusion Assassin's Creed 2 is a great buy and won't leave you disappointed. Plus the story is sure to keep you interested.
Parent point of view.... August 7, 2010 nanmka (Tampa, FL United States) 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
This game makes a great nanny. My kids will play this game for hours.
Warning: Set a time limit before the kids start playing. They will get so involved that they won't want to quit. I wish they'd get this involved in their school work.
I personally don't care for this game, but I didn't buy it for me. The fighting and AI tactics don't represent real life. I find myself reminding the kids that the game is not real and that's not how people operate in reality.
Way better than the first! August 2, 2010 Kevin Franck Assasins Creed II is a huge improvement over the first game, with much more involved gameplay mechanics. You can purchase and upgrade weapons, armor, medicine. You are more motivated to gain certain abilities and unlock cool new inventions which really make the game that much better. The story is also deeper, with great character development. I highly recommend this game, and should have played this a long time ago. Don't let the boredom of the first game deter you!
Fun and informative July 31, 2010 Luis Henrique (Recife, PE Brazil) AC2 is a interesting game, the graphics are excellent, and the historical data about buildings and persons is informative and fun, although I don't know how much of it is to be taken at face value.
It's relatively easy to play for someone like me who is ankward with his hands, but I think the fighting combos should be a little easier. What annoys me most is when Ezio is running and hits a wall by accident, if it's not a "climbable" wall he gets stuck trying to climb it, making him lose precious seconds, specially if you're trying to beat a running challenge.
Overall it's a good game and fun to play.
